Throughout the year Calderdale hosts a variety of festivals and events. From creative workshops and family events at Calderdale Museums to a host of events throughout the summer at the Piece Hall. Local communities host some of the most popular festivals throughout the year - celebrate the Pace Eggs Plays at Easter, South Pennine Challenge and Pennine Spring Music Festival through May with Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and the Halifax Festival taking centre stage in the summer. In early autumn enjoy the Norland Scarecrow Festival, Sowerby Bridge Rushbearing Festival, and Ted Hughes Festival, before turning your attention to seasonal celebrations at Ogden Water and Christmas celebrations in Halifax.

For performances throughout the year, sample the delights of our theatres and cinemas. In Halifax Northern Broadsides at Dean Clough, The Victoria Theatre and Square Chapel Centre for the Arts offer a whole range of performances throughout the year,  or sample 21st century film in our vintage Art Deco cinemas: Hebden Bridge Picture House and The Rex, Elland.
